Word from the Executive Director: Happy Holidays

December 23, 2003

As the year 2003 draws to a close, on behalf of our entire staff, I would like to extend our most sincere wishes for a happy holiday season and healthy New Year.

Our office staff, under the direction of General Manager, John Dodgson, performs efficiently through the efforts of Joan Eorio and Laura Nash. Our Grounds Superintendent, Dave Zennario and Forman, Craig Catalina oversees our hard working grounds crew staff. Our marketing and sales efforts under the direction of Ed Stevens, Vice President, enable our counselors, Richard Groschel, Jeff O’Neill and Ray Quesnel to service the needs of our families throughout Ocean County. This staff, together with our administrative office group, enables Ocean County Memorial Park to grow.

I am pleased to have had the opportunity to work with this group over the year and value the friendships and dedication each one of them contributes to our operation. Their collective efforts enable us to be the best cemetery in the State of New Jersey.

On behalf of our entire staff, I wish all of the families we have serviced a meaningful holiday filled with joy and memories.

Word from the Executive Director: M&P Fund Exceeds Expectations for 2003

December 19, 2003

I am pleased to announce contributions to the Maintenance & Preservation Fund for Ocean County Memorial Park in the year 2003 have exceeded previous year’s results. We have reached out to the community and the people we service which has enabled us to receive, through their generosity, gifts and bequests which go directly to the Maintenance & Preservation Fund of Ocean County Memorial Park. One Hundred percent of each contribution goes directly to the Maintenance & Preservation Fund which is used for the perpetual care of the cemetery. Under state law the interest from the Maintenance & Preservation Fund can be used on an annual basis to maintain the grounds and buildings of our facility. This is considered by the trustees of Ocean County Memorial Park to be an extremely important part of our operations as we prepare for the day in which our most valuable asset, land, is consumed. Currently the cemetery has a vast amount of unused property for future generations to use for memorialization of their loved ones. We, however, firmly believe a large part of our responsibility is to grow the Maintenance & Preservation Fund for future generations. I would like to thank all who have participated in this process and assure you we are diligently continuing our effort.

I am pleased to announce the annual candlelight service was a very meaningful memorial service for all who attended. This year’s event included the youth choir from St. Justin’s under the direction of Margaret Sardagnola. This was our first year having the youth choir and it was very touching. It was our 17th annual candlelight service and approximately 1,000 people attended. Each of our mausoleum chapels were decorated with holiday poinsettias and wreaths. The service was broadcasted to all of our buildings. Our guest speakers were Father Damian McElroy and Reverend Frederick Hoover. The weather was excellent for the occasion and I would like to thank all who participated in this event for our cemetery as it has become a holiday tradition for many of the families we service. I sincerely hope we will be able to continue providing this service for many years to come. Photos of the various holiday arrangements will be available on the website for those who were unable to attend.

Word from the Executive Director: OCMP Mausoleum Construction Advancing

December 13, 2003

I am pleased to announce we have completed all engineering requirements concerning our Waretown mausoleum and chapel project, as well as our new mausoleum building in Toms River, New Jersey. A hearing before the Dover Township Planning Board has been scheduled for Monday, November 10, 2003 at which time we anticipate receiving approval to proceed with construction in Toms River. We anticipate approval before the Waretown Planning Board during the month of December 2003 and are very excited about both of these opportunities and look forward to commencing construction in the spring of 2004. For those families who have purchased in either of these mausoleum projects, we appreciate your patience as the application process for any construction in New Jersey continues to become more challenging. We have worked diligently getting to this point and look forward to completing both these building projects.
