Word from the Executive Director: OCMP Update for May 27, 2005 - OCMP receives building permits

May 27, 2005

I am pleased to announce that effective May 26, 2005; Ocean County Memorial Park received building permit approvals to commence construction of our Waretown mausoleum – chapel project. This approval process paves the way for us to commence construction of this elaborate mausoleum – chapel facility. We believe this facility will serve the residents of Southern Ocean County and their families for centuries to come. I would like to extend my appreciation to all who have patiently waited for this project to commence and assure you that our staff will make every effort to expedite the construction process.

I would also welcome all who wish to attend our Memorial Day service this weekend in Toms River. This historically has been a very meaningful event filled with patriotic pride and reverence for all who have served in the military services. We at Ocean County Memorial Park are reminded daily of the sacrifices made.

A meeting took place this week with the Waretown Utilities Authority concerning our sewer system for our new mausoleum/chapel project. We received approvals for our sewer plan as submitted and are optimistic that our construction program will begin very shortly. It is a requirement that we receive county and state approval for the plan, however, this should not hold up construction. We, once again, appreciate everyone’s patience and we are making every effort to commence construction.

We are nearing completion of our Toms River mausoleum building. At this time, the exterior granite and interior marble is substantially completed. Site work is well under way and we anticipate completing this project by the end of June. We are planning a building dedication for this summer to commemorate this achievement.

I am pleased to announce we are nearing completion of our mausoleum project in Toms River. This building offers a different granite color and design which adds great beauty to the cemetery. We are currently working on the parking area, sidewalks, finishing the sprinkler system and preparing to install sod. Shortly we will be making plans for an opening day ceremony for this beautiful building.

A great deal of effort is being expended concerning our Waretown mausoleum project and we anticipate receiving sewer installation approvals from the Waretown Utilities Authority next week. The contractor is anxious to start work and we are making every effort to receive our building permit to commence construction. As the first mausoleum in Waretown we have faced many challenges in getting this project into construction. We anticipate the Garden State Parkway adding entrance ramps on Route 532 in the near future which will redirect Waretown traffic flows and enhance the visibility of our cemetery.

Currently many of our flowering trees are now in full bloom, the grass is a lush green color and we are certainly enjoying the beauty of spring. We certainly invite all who wish to come and pay their respects in our serene, peaceful setting.
