Word from the Executive Director: OCMP Update for November 2009

November 06, 2009

Our combined cemetery operations at both Toms River and Waretown, New Jersey continue to improve. We have completed our Waretown mausoleum/chapel development and received all approvals required to operate this facility. It has proven to be extremely functional and we are very proud of this structure. We have received many compliments from those who have visited and I am pleased to say that our mausoleum sales are continuing to progress. We are reviewing plans for future glass niches in the vestibule of this building to compliment our existing niches, which are almost completely sold out. I am pleased to say we have hosted numerous memorial committal services in our chapel and I believe this building will serve our purposes for many years to come. We continue to operate the building seven days per week and the local community interest continues to grow as Waretown develops. We also continue to improve the grounds for those who choose ground burial and we have opened a new burial section to the public. The current maintenance program we established has worked very efficiently and I believe the benefit of this expansion of Ocean County Memorial Park will strengthen our operations for centuries to come.

We are substantially into the construction of our Mausoleum Building 12B & 12C, which is an addition to a previous constructed building. This design will offer several new mausoleum and niche products, which we believe will be thought of favorably by our families. There will be an open-air atrium leading from the existing building to our new structure, which will have a water feature and a mural niche feature that will be new to the cemetery. This building will also have an exclusive niche room with bronze glass front niches encompassing all of the walls. This room will be very stately and will offer families a quiet place to pay their respects and honor their loved ones. The building will also be a full chapel facility that may be used for committal services with selective seating. At the present, we are nearing the completion of the concrete work for this building and anticipate completing this project in July 2010. We continue to improve the grounds at Toms River and are substantially complete with a new irrigation system that will provide sprinklers for the majority of our grounds to enhance their beauty during the summer months. We have been fortunate in this current economic climate to be able to maintain our full staff and see our sales increase on an annual basis. I am very proud of our entire staff and know that we have much work to do before this year is over as we are beginning to plan for our Annual Candlelight Services at both of our facilities, which have been slated for December 11th and 12th at our Waretown and Toms River locations. This year for the first time, the Candlelight Service in Waretown will be held in the evening and will hopefully be a very moving experience for all of the families that attend.
